This movie took 3 years to complete and includes a comprehensive collection of images about the most important sightseeing tours in Portugal, namely in Lisbon and surroundings.
Lisbon is one of the most favored targets of touristic cities in Europe, cradle of conquerors and navigators, who left a rich patrimony in monuments. Its strategic position in North Atlantic with a gorgeous seaside resort and between two mountains, with a mild climate all year round, provides an amount of unforgettable sights unique in the world. The movie shows what tourists see and don't see in the most famous tours in Lisbon and surroundings - Lisbon sightseeing tour, Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, Mafra, Sesimbra, Óbidos, Alcobaça, Nazaré, Batalha and Fatima tours. These are the most famous tours chosen by tourists and visitors coming to Portugal, which means 20 million per year and growing.
The film tries to be intense, in a way that the public can see as much as possible in 1h30m. Most of the scenes have no more than 5 seconds. But it is definitely not aggressive; it leaves a message of glee and the will to see it again.
It also includes images of places not visited in the tours. Besides, it shows the interior of monuments, like no other movie of this kind. It intends to show what is best in Portugal, regarding the artistic point view. For this, we had to go with experts to the inside of palaces, churches, museums, monuments and all the relevant sites to tourists.
It was difficult to make. We had to repeat several scenes due to many reasons. This 1h30m movie meant more than 50 cassettes (X 1 hour) of filming. It was necessary several authorizations from numerous authorities in Portugal. Our team is composed by experts of tour business in Portugal for a long time. Only these people, among them experienced tour guides, could have an "eye" to know what is supposed to be relevant for this kind of work and from which angle.
The text was also written by graduated tour guides. It enhances the main features in a historic, cultural and touristic point of view. These explanations are included in the DVD in five languages: English, Portuguese, French, Spanish and Italian.
We should add that, unfortunately, nothing like this work was ever made before and as far as we know, it is not going to be repeated in the near future.
This movie is approved and registered (4456/2005) in IGAC (Inspecção Geral das Actividades Culturais), which is the legal authority in Portugal.
It includes the following parts:
LISBON
THE VIEWS -River, bridges, estuary, castle, ancient Lisbon, modern Lisbon, etc.
TYPICAL TRANSPORTATION -Promenades by ferry boats, double-deckers, elevators, funiculars, trams. We shot the rides from the inside of all of them.
THE FEASTS -Processions of Lisbon like the Carnival of Brazil + The change of the National Republican Guard (parade).
THE PALACES -All the palaces and relevant manor houses of Lisbon, some of them are national monuments, and it includes the interior of Ajuda palace.
CHURCHES, MONASTERIES, CONVENTS -All the most important ancient Churches, Monasteries, Convents of Lisbon, some of them are national monuments. It includes superb exteriors and the interiors of all of them.
MUSEUMS -Maritime museum (interior), Coach museum (interior), Ancient Art museum (interior).
ANCIENT SECTION -Alfama, the most ancient quarter of Lisbon, with crooked and narrow streets with roofs nearly touching each other... SHOPPING AREAS -Typical markets, flee-market, traditional shopping area of Lisbon, big shopping mall.
SQUARES -The most important squares of Lisbon.
OTHER MONUMENTS -Aqueduct, Monument to the Discoveries, Belem Tower, statue of Christ, the riverside, including the place where Expo 98 was held. PARKS -Oceanarium (inside with several species of fish), parks of Lisbon, zoo (inside).
SINTRA -Views of Sintra mountain and the exteriors and interiors of the monuments, like: -Portugal in miniature, Moorish castle, Pena palace, Sintra palace, Sintra manor houses, Mafra palace, Queluz palace (all National Monuments).
COAST -The most famous seaside resorts: Roca cape, Guincho, Ericeira, Cascais, Estoril, Sesimbra, Nazaré. The views of the coastline, beaches, palaces and typical fishing boats as well.
FÁTIMA -One of the most important pilgrimage places in the world.
BATALHA -Famous Monastery from the 14th century (exteriors and interiors).
ALCOBAÇA -Famous Monastery from the 12th century (exteriors and interiors).
ÓBIDOS -Medieval town.
